So how’s life?

January 27th, 2008

I’ve been very occupied with things recently. I won’t say I’m busy though; I’m just doing a lot of things and nothings. But life is really very interesting right now, and I don’t quite know how to use words to explain. Hoho.

Today I helped Miss Tan with her portfolio website html and css coding, and I’m quite satisfied with it. XD Heh. Gonna finish coding my own too. Very soon, this website will turn into my portfolio website, and this blog will be shifted to somewhere else!

Btw I’ve watched 2 movies quite recently.

Le Grand Chef

Le Grand Chef

Quite a nice show. While many people felt hungry after the show and wanted even more Korean food, I felt like becoming a vegetarian instead. Some parts, where they suggested killing of animals for the sake of becoming humans’ food on their table, really made me feel quite sad for the animals.

Normally when I eat meat that’s already been cooked for us, I don’t feel anything except, perhaps, hunger. But when I saw the process of animals being killed, the tears in their eyes, I really felt an ouch in my heart. It’s not about the pain I’m talking about, but the fact that they are born in this world with one purpose: to be killed by us when they grow big enough.

They don’t even have the chance to defend or fight for themselves. In the past when humans hunted for food, at least they could run or gather some ‘buddies’ to fight back. But now, we humans don’t really even respect their natural habitat nor lives anymore. We just raise them in cages and kill them.

Anyway I shall not talk so much about this, haha. It feels like I’m preaching. =x

It’s not easy to become a vegetarian. Some people around me would tell me not to become one, because I’m skinny. Some just feel that it’s inevitable for animals to be killed. Some think that we are ’supposed’ to be the top of the food chain. I’ll see what I can do~

Back to this show. It’s really a show that is more story-based than characters-based. I’m surprised that the sub-plots in the story are actually more interesting than the main plot, and that’s not a bad thing, because the main plot is kind of cliche.

The soundtrack is good too, reminds me of some Korean dramas. Haha.

Cloverfield

Cloverfield

Here’s one of the most talked about movie recently, Cloverfield.

Less is more, and it’s quite proven in this movie. In their trailers, they actually reveal very little about their story and main concept. But everyone sort of knows that this is some thrilling movie about a monster, that’s it. It’s this little curiosity that the trailers planted into my mind that made me want to find out what really happened.

And wow, the movie really blew me away. While many people felt dizzy due to the film-making technique, I actually felt alright. The shaky hand-held camera style actually made this movie more real than ever. It feels like you are part of the victims trying to escape, and you only know as much as the characters know.

This movie is more about the experience than about story. It makes you feel like you’ve gone through some really scary and thrilling encounter.

Highly recommended to anyone who doesn’t have motion sickness, and anyone who does not care too much about story.

The trailer for cloverfield is really interesting. I don’t think I will watch it though because shaky cameras really have an adverse effect on me; I learned my lesson with Blair Witch. I was gonna throw-up by the end of the movie. Not good.

As for becoming vegetarian, I was vegetarian for a bit - a little more than 2 months. I lost a lot of weight but became quite close to anemic. It’s not easy being vegetarian since you have to study the nutrition content of each vegetable to know what to consume per day to keep a balanced diet. I’d suggest taking some classes or just researching on what the vegetables contain and what is needed to replace the nutrients in meat, if you are to consider being vegetarian.

Hope to see your new blog!
