Pasta at Waraku!
December 21st, 2007I have always been fascinated by Pasta de Waraku’s exterior.

So damn nice! All of their (fake)pastas are displayed outside for you to look at. When you are very very hungry, even these colourful plates of plastics can whet your appetite.
So far I have already visited two of their branches, one at The Central and one at Novena Square2 (just opened quite recently).

Are you hungry yet?
When I went there for the first time, I think I ordered Hamburg Steak Pasta, can’t really remember the name. Hmm. =/

It’s quite yummy. I think I still remember how it tastes like right now.
The serving is quite reasonably sufficient, even though I hoped for more.
They would serve a small bowl of salad before your meal too! The salad is very delicious, thanks to the sauce.

The wafu beef meat sauce on top of the hamburg steak tastes great. It’s a little sweet, a little salty and a little sour.
I remember I visited their The Central branch on a public holiday with my friend, and one of the staff there was really friendly and responsive to our requests. He even encouraged us to drink more water and stay a little longer by refilling our iced water almost non-stop, and eventually placed the bottle of water on our table for us to perform self-service.
I guess that was his method to prevent new customers from coming in too soon. Haha. So while me and my friend were chatting away, he could stand there and slack too.
During my second visit at the newly opened Novena Square2 branch, I ordered a Chicken Al’ Aglio Olio. I thought it was too spicy for me. The spicy taste sort of overwhelmed every other taste and I could barely taste the pasta itself.
My friend, Miss Chee, ordered a Prawn Spicy Carbonara. I thought it was better than what I ordered.

Miss Huang ordered a Prawn and Mushroom pasta.

And the luckiest person of all, Miss Tan, managed to order a Kids Meal, the Neapolitan Set! It’s only about $9.80!
Kids meal sets are only for kids who are 12 years old and below, and Miss Tan is definitely older than 12 years old, haha.

Shortly after we ordered our pastas, one of their senior staff came to tell us that we (adults) are not eligible to order kids meal for ourselves. However, since one of their trainee staff already keyed in our order, so.. we had the rare privilege to enjoy this meal.
She was so damn lucky isn’t it?!

Even the cutleries for the meal are so cute!
Mr Yeo ordered a Spaghetti Ala Bolognese, which I don’t have a photo of.
While waiting for their pasta to come, Miss Huang suddenly asked Mr Yeo a question. A question that most girls already know the answer but still want to ask.

Mr Yeo didn’t respond immediately. Maybe he was not sure as he probably never noticed her very much. Or maybe he was thinking if he should tell the truth or .. a not-so-true truth.
Being Miss Huang’s very good friends, Miss Chee and Miss Tan thought that perhaps Mr Yeo forgot how to give the correct answer (which is the truth). So they secretly and quietly suggested the correct answer (or the truth) while Miss Huang wasn’t noticing.

Mr Yeo’s eyes were seen rolling left and right rapidly, as if he was distracted by something else.
Smelling something fishy, Miss Huang turned around to look at what her good friends were doing.

Chee and Tan instantly looked away, as if nothing happened.
‘Impossible, something must have happened,’ Miss Huang thought to herself.
And then..

Their pasta came. Everyone started eating and no one bothered to get back to this topic after that. (I’m also kinda lazy to type already, haha)
I think I will be visiting Paste de Waraku in the future, since I still have some of their 50% off coupons. At the same time, I feel like trying all of the pastas they displayed! So tempting! Is there anyone who’s willing to sponsor my ‘gain-some-weight’ programme?
I just watched Alvin and the Chipmunks recently.
If you find these chipmunks cute, I think you will probably at least enjoy this movie more than I do. Because seriously, I think they look far from cute, and the way they behaved in the movie was just plain irritating to me. They were like, a bunch of kids who wouldn’t shut up and sit still when you want them to.
Some of the songs in the movie are quite nice though, but not enough to distract me from the so-so story and worse than so-so humour.
I don’t like it very much. =( Some of my friends actually enjoyed the show though.. so.. you might want to give it a try.~
