interpersonal skill, some people just lack of that... but they just don't admit. So coffee can be cheap, to them service is something to be abuse.

I think it is a two way interaction. Customer must be happy with the waiter, then waiter will serve happily to the customer.

Hey desmond ! Just dropping by, haha!
Yes yes I do tip waiters.. only if their service is good.
Some of the restaurants I go to, the waiters are either too slow and/or not friendly at all.

Great post! I have to agree Singaporean customers can be really mean and nasty. I try to be nice to them but I think I fail at point #2 because I'm a messy eater and a klutz who always spill stuff everywhere and on myself. :P

Regarding your bit on how to make waiters happy, I have to thank you for putting in the 4th point. I think a lot of people do not realise that service charge does not directly go into the waiter's pockets. Since I have been living here, I have been leaving some sort of tip in case, but people have been telling me that it wasn't necessary because there is a service charge present. So I didn't for a few times, but restarted it again because, I guess it's out of habit? But before living here, when I was still living in Indonesia, to leave a tip was an act of gratitude. I guess it's a good thing that I never stopped. Again, thanks for bringing that up. =)
