I gained some weight!

April 9th, 2007

*wipes tears* It was quite a great achievement to me actually, especially for a skinny person like me, who haven’t had any significant changes in weight for the past three years or so. No matter how much I ate, my weight wouldn’t change much ( some girls are quite jealous of this ).

During FYP period, I have sort of picked up the habit of putting all sorts of snacks into my mouth while doing work. In this way, I became more alert by learning how to hide my food quickly when lecturers come in.. to perform better in work.

Recently, I have visited quite a few more eateries for the first time, to satisfy my thirst for greater variety of food as well as my big appetite. ( I’ve had enough of school canteen food every afternoon! T_T )

First and foremost, I shall start with..

The Soup Spoon

The Soup Spoon restaurant

The Soup Spoon restaurant offers nutritious and delicious soups at pretty affordable prices ( range from $5 to around $6 + ). The soup serving is quite sufficient, and you have an option to ‘upsize’ it into a meal, complete with a salad/sandwich/wrap, a drink and also a yummy chocolate ( price range from $7+ to $10 ).

It operates pretty much like a fast food restaurant, so there’s no service charge.

Tokyo Chicken Stew

The ‘combo’ meal I ordered looked like this. It contains the Toyko Chicken Stew ( very very yummy!! ), a bread, a yummy chocolate and a glass of home-made ice lemon tea. Oh yes! And also a..

Cajun Fish Wrap

This is Cajun Fish Wrap! It was also part of my ‘combo’ meal.

Girls, if you want to watch your weight and have a hearty meal, I think you can consider this restaurant. It’s pretty good! =)

WOW! Noodles

Wow! Noodles

I had a pretty unpleasant experience in this eatery located at Ang Mo Kio Hub.

The cashier, being the very first staff that I had to make an order from, gave me ( and the rest of the customers ) a very very pissed face.

Dark Face

PissedFace™

She looked pissed almost all the time. I would appreciate it if she could at least.. smile a little and speak properly? I saw her smiling only at the manager of this eatery. -.-

The snacks

Available at about $1 per stick, these snacks were not as tasty as they seemed, in my opinion. They weren’t even warm when I bought them. Buy your snacks from Old Chang Kee instead!

Wow! Chicken cutlet noodles!

This is the Chicken Cutlet Noodle which I ordered. The cutlet was already cold when served. I wonder if the cutlet was left in an air-con room for hours. The noodles was fine, and the soup was fine too. The price range of their food are around $5 to $7. Wow! Nothing special!

I think for their food quality, variety and service, their food is a tad over priced. Dine there at your own risk. =x

Superdog

Superdog

Located at VivoCity, Superdog is one of the newer fast food chain in Singapore recently.

My Superdog meal

My Superdog meal consists of a Bacon Ripper, medium fries and ice lemon tea. Their fries are very crispy and salty enough. I love fries that can stand straight, they are so nice to chew!

Standing up to the competition

Their sausages are pretty decent; Neither too salty nor oily. You can give Superdog a try. =)

NYDC

I don’t know what NYDC stands for. Anyone has any idea? ( Or you can let your imagination run wild and make a few lame guesses.. haha. ) Ni Yao Desmond, Confirm? -.-

I went to the NYDC restaurant at Wheelock Place last week. The staff there were pretty friendly, even though they were also quite forgetful, unattentive and careless sometimes. =x

NYDC’s Baked Rice

I ordered one of the baked rice. I’m not sure what it is called, because the staff mixed up our orders a little and didn’t really give us what we ordered.

I have nothing to say about the baked rice, it was just okay lah.

NYDC’s Oreo Obsession

This dessert is called “Oreo Obsession”. It contains an Oreo cheesecake, chocolate chip chocolate ice-cream and whipped cream by the side, with chocolate sauce on top. Sounds very yummy and ‘chocolaty’ right??? To me, I think that the Oreo cheesecake was a bit sour ( I hope it was not expired ) and I got quite sick of it after about 7 bites. =/

Another ‘can-try’ restaurant.

Yamee Soldier Noodles Snack

Yamee Noodles Snack!

This is a must-try snack!

This 80g per packet snack is actually instant noodle crusts that are somehow ‘molded’ into the shape of Chinese chess pieces ( therefore the name ’soldier’ ). Available in two flavours , curry and pizza, it is sold at only 50 cents per packet!

The pizza flavour one ( shown in the picture above ) is so popular that it’s usually sold out!

People, if you are super hungry and want to cure your hunger without feeling guilty, you can try this harmless little packet of cheap and tasty snack! XD

Oh yes, it can be found in most FairPrice supermarkets and Cheers convenience stores, I think.

That’s all for ‘Makansutra II’ today! By the way, ever thought that a small packet of Pocky isn’t sufficient to satisfy your hunger and appetite?

Pocky

Fear not, today I shall introduce Pocky’s big brother - Chocky.

Chocky, Pocky’s clone

I have placed an iPod Nano there so that you can have an idea how much bigger Chocky is. Haha, you can say that Chocky is the pirated version of Pocky, but in a much bigger size. I saw this only at the Cheers convenience store in my school. I wonder if they are available in other places…Hmm.
